King Avocado Orchard
King avocados come from the northernmost tip of New Zealand, one of the most pristine and remote growing environments on the planet.
Our unique geology is surrounded by forest and idyllic beaches, bathed in sunlight and warm clean air from Ninety Mile Beach to our west and the Pacific Ocean to our east.
Our soils are rich in nutrients, and the pristine water and micro-climate lends itself to growing the highest quality Hass avocados – 200,000 trees and counting
Largus, Mapua & Tiri Orchards
Largus Orchard is a 52-hectare avocado orchard located on Heath Road in Waiharara, established in 2017. With 30,000 trees planted between November 2017 and May 2018, the orchard grows Hass avocados alongside polliniser varieties including Zutano, Bacon, and Ettinger. Largus is equipped with advanced fertigation and irrigation systems, supporting tree health across a variety of soil conditions. Together with neighbouring Tiri Orchard, the team comprises twenty-eight full-time staff, scaling up to over seventy during peak periods with additional contractors supporting harvest, development, and infrastructure projects.
Mapua – Located in the stunning Far North, Mapua Avocados spans an impressive 202 hectares with 93,000 trees planted across the property. Since its establishment in 2017, the orchard has grown steadily, now supporting Hass on Bounty, Dusa, Zutano, and SR1 rootstocks. The orchard is fully equipped with fertigation and irrigation infrastructure to optimise tree health and productivity. Mapua is more than just a workplace—it’s a close-knit, family-oriented team of seventeen full-time and five part-time staff. With a four-day working week and a strong connection to the land, the team enjoys a healthy work/life balance in one of New Zealand’s most scenic regions, nestled between two coastlines.
Tiri Avocado Orchard, established in 2018, spans 155 hectares in Waiharara, with over 70,000 trees planted between October 2018 and March 2020. The orchard is home to Hass avocados along with polliniser varieties including Zutano, Bacon, and Ettinger. Tiri’s flat landscape includes a mix of soil types, native wetland areas, and is supported by comprehensive infrastructure, including fertigation and irrigation systems tailored to its diverse growing conditions. The team currently shares twenty-eight full-time staff across Tiri and neighbouring Largus Orchard, with workforce numbers growing to over seventy during development phases and harvest seasons.
Harbour Edge Avocados
Harbour Edge is a 110-hectare avocado orchard located in the coastal community of Tapora, just north of Auckland. Established in 2015, the orchard is home to over 35,000 trees ranging in age from one to ten years, growing Hass, Reed, and Maluma varieties. The property is supported by robust infrastructure including pine shelter belts, two dams, two bores, and fully automated irrigation and fertigation systems. Harbour Edge employs a dedicated team of eight full-time staff and up to ten seasonal workers, all committed to producing top-quality fruit in a high-performing and efficient orchard environment.
